Friesland crowned most circular region in the world

The province of Friesland has been named the most circular region in the world. The prestigious recognition was awarded during the World Circular Economy Forum world congress in Brazil. With this, Friesland shows that it is not only a leader in Europe, but also a global example in the field of circularity.

The jury particularly praised the way in which Frisians work together on a circular economy: local, social and innovative. Think of circular construction, food production without waste and initiatives in which people and materials are given their due again. There are also many examples in the tourism sector in Friesland.

The Mauritiuskerk B&B also shares in this ambition. With our B&B we strive to be the most sustainable and circular church in Friesland - and perhaps even in Europe. We are currently participating in the Green Key project to obtain the certificate in sustainability from the leisure sector.
