The Kraak (church studio/apartment)

"De Kraak" church studio is a fully equipped apartment, featuring a fully equipped kitchen with an oven and dishwasher, a private bathroom, and a living room.

The church studio is located on the gallery in the church tower where the church organ used to be and where the choir would sit or stand to sing.

The Kraak is fully equipped: a double bed, a private bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, refrigerator, oven, and utensils (from cutlery, plates, and pans to egg cups and baking paper). The studio also has a Nespresso machine and an electric kettle.

De Kraak is a spacious studio with all the amenities for a relaxing stay. It also has an adjoining library that can be used as a separate living room . Here you can enjoy reading or playing games. Wi-Fi is free. If you want to watch TV or YouTube, bring your iPad or tablet.

On request, a baby bed can be placed next to the double bed in De Kraak.

De Kraak is located on the former balcony gallery where the organ once stood (in Frisian: de Kreake, gallery in a church near the organ). Until 2016, a classic 16th-century Van Dam organ was located here in Jirnsum, which was sold after the church closed. The organ has been restored and now stands in the village church of Zoeterwoude in the Randstad.

At the dining table in De Kraak hangs a photo of the restored organ, which can be heard every Sunday in Zoeterwoude.

The Pilgrim Studio

The Pilgrim Studio is located on the ground floor of the church tower and features a double bed or two single beds. You can specify your preference when booking. (Otherwise, you will receive a standard double bed.)

The room has a fully equipped kitchenette and a complete inventory, including a Nespresso coffee machine, kettle, refrigerator, induction cooktop, and oven. You also have a private bathroom with a shower and toilet.

The church studio has a mezzanine seating area overlooking the church garden and the Rijksweg highway, with the Boarn River in the distance. From the seating area, you can enjoy the view outside while enjoying a cup of tea, coffee, or a glass of wine.

Guests are also welcome to use our church garden and the various benches and seating areas. Feel free to pick mint or lemon leaves for a fresh cup of tea.

Breakfast can be eaten in the mezzanine seating area of the room or, weather permitting, in the church garden.

Of course, towels, washcloths, tea towels, sustainable soap and shampoo, and a hairdryer are provided.

Next to the double bed there are 2 bedside tables with (reading) lamps.

Church tower arrangement

With the Church Tower package, you book both studio apartments in our church tower – suitable for a group of four. It includes two private bathrooms, two kitchens, a dishwasher, a living room, and access to our south-facing church garden with various seating areas (a bench, hammock, lounge chairs, etc.). A washing machine and dryer are also available for use.

Friends, couples, or families can all use the Mauritius Church's facilities together. Wi-Fi and parking are free. The two studios offer maximum privacy for everyone.

The Kraak has a double bed. The Pelgrim has a double bed or two single beds. A fifth (baby/children's) bed can be added upon request for an additional fee.

Both studios have their own kitchen and bathroom; De Kraak has its own dishwasher. A washing machine and dryer in the church tower are available for use.

In the library, you can relax, read, play games, chat, or plan your outings. The church garden offers a variety of seating options: a picnic table, garden furniture, lounge chairs, and a hammock. Guests are welcome to use the organic herbs, for example, to make tea.
