The Kraak (church studio/apartment)

'De Kraak' church studio is an apartment with all amenities. With fully equipped kitchen, oven and dishwasher.

The church studio is located on the gallery in the church tower where the church organ used to be. Singers and the choir also used to sing here. The studio is fully equipped: a double bed, bathroom in the church tower, a complete kitchen with dishwasher, refrigerator, oven and inventory (from cutlery, plates, pans to egg cups and baking paper). The studio also has a Nespresso coffee machine and a kettle.

De Kraak is a spacious studio with all the facilities for a relaxing stay; it has an adjoining library that can be used as a separate living room . Where you can read or play games. Wifi is free. If you want to watch TV or YouTube, bring your iPad or tablet.

On request, a baby bed can be placed next to the double bed in De Kraak.

De Kraak is located on the former balcony gallery of the church where the organ used to be (in Frisian: de Kreake, gallery in a church near the organ). Until 2016, a classic 16th century Van Dam organ was located here in Jirnsum, which was sold after the church closed. The organ has been restored and is now located in the village church of Zoeterwoude in the Randstad. In our De Kraak studio there is a photo of the restored organ, which can be heard every Sunday in Zoeterwoude.

The Pilgrim Studio

The Pelgrim Studio is located on the ground floor of the church tower and has a double bed or two single beds. You can indicate your preference when booking.\

The room has a fully equipped kitchenette & complete inventory including a coffee machine (Nespresso), kettle, fridge, induction hob and oven. You also have your own shower and toilet.

Guests are also free to use our church garden and the various benches or seats. Picking mint or lemon leaves for a fresh cup of tea is allowed.

Originally, the location of De Pelgrim Studio was a steep staircase that led to the old bell tower. We have preserved part of this staircase and it now provides access to a cozy sitting area with a view of our church square and the Rijksweg. From the sitting area in the room you can look outside while enjoying a cup of tea, coffee or a nice glass of wine.

Church tower arrangement

With the Church Tower arrangement you book both studios/apartments: De Kraak and De Pelgrim. Couples of friends, family or a family can use all the facilities of the Mauritius Church together. Including the Library/Living room, our church garden and parking spaces. At the same time, everyone has maximum privacy in his/her own studio.

The Kraak has a double bed. The Pelgrim has a double bed or two single beds. On request, a fifth (baby/children's) bed can be added.

Both studios have their own kitchen and bathroom; De Kraak has its own dishwasher. A washing machine and dryer in the church tower can be used.

In the Library you can sit, read, play games, chat or plan your trips. The church garden has various types of seating: a picnic table, garden furniture, loungers and a hammock. Guests may use the organic herbs, for example to make tea.
